Hong Kong ranked the freest economy for the 23rd consecutive year
The Heritage Foundation has just announced this year's ranking of economies in terms of economic freedom. Hong Kong, scoring 89.8, 1.2 higher than the score last year, was ranked the freest economy for the 23rd consecutive year among the world's 180 economies.
I am glad that the current-term Government's appropriately proactive approach to boosting economic development, alleviating poverty, caring for the elderly, supporting the disadvantaged and increasing land and housing supply does not undermine Hong Kong's economic freedom. This shows that it is entirely possible for appropriately proactive economic and livelihood policies to co-existwith a free market economy.
