Renowned scientific research institutes set up stem cell research centres in Hong Kong
Two months ago, the stem cell research centre set up by Sweden's Karolinska Institutet in Hong Kong was officially opened. And this morning, at an international conference on stem cells, the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health of the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced the establishment of a stem cell research centre in Hong Kong.
Stem cell research is frontier science. So why did these renowned scientific research institutes from overseas and Mainland China choose to set up their research centres in Hong Kong? It is because Hong Kong, with its role as "super-connector", provides an ideal platform on which scientists from Hong Kong, Mainland China and overseas can work together.
In recent years, my Government's staunch support of and commitment to promoting scientific research have come to the attention of renowned scientific research institutes from Mainland China and overseas countries. Let's keep this up.
