My thanks to Fire Services Department colleagues
The Government has just announced that 29 officers in the Fire Services Department were awarded honours and awards in recognition of their acts of gallantry displayed during the firefighting and rescue operations in two recent fire incidents at Amoycan Industrial Centre, Ngau Tau Kok Road, and Cheong Fat Factory Building, Un Chau Street. The awards are the Medal for Bravery (Silver), the Medal for Bravery (Bronze) and the Chief Executive's Commendation for Government/Public Service.
Among the award recipients, some braved extremely hot fire to save their lost partner in maze-like mini-storage facilities, and some rescued two teenagers from a burning industrial building in the face of great danger. Our firefighters deserve commendation for their courage and determination in protecting people's lives and property in highly hazardous environments. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to them all.
