Visiting Wah Ha Estate - increasing housing supply with all-out effort
This morning, I visited Wah Yan House at Wah Ha Estate in Chai Wan. This is a project that increases housing supply through conservation. Wah Ha Estate was originally a factory building constructed more than 50 years ago. The building has now been converted into a public housing estate providing 187 rental units.
The four chimney stacks extending beyond the roof of the estate are part of the original factory building. The stairs inside the building have also been conserved. The typesetting printing machines used in the past are now on display at the exhibition area.
The current-term Government has made an all-out effort to increase housing supply. In the five-year period from 2015-16 onwards, the estimated public housing production will be higher than those in the previous three five-year periods.
I would like to thank my colleagues for their contributions.
