Elon Musk visiting Hong Kong
This morning, Mr Elon Musk spoke in the StartmeupHK Venture Forum at the Central Government Offices. It had a full house with more than 900 people in the audience.
In the afternoon, Mr Musk came to Government House at my invitation to chat with six local young people who are enthusiastic about innovation and technology. The chat lasted for more than half an hour. Hopefully, these young people would feel encouraged and inspired. After the chat, my colleagues in the Government and I hosted a banquet for Mr Musk and his entourage.
Mr Musk, the man behind Tesla Motors, SpaceX and SolarCity, is an entrepreneur who owns businesses in electric vehicles, reusable rockets and solar panels. His next goal is to explore space and create the necessary conditions that enable human beings to live on Mars by making use of science and technology. Mr Musk has encountered innumerable setbacks in building his career, and it is his courage, perseverance and innovative spirit that I admire most.
I have read his biography, which is a recent best seller in Hong Kong. People can read the book and draw on his experience.
