Touring Government House

Government House bears witness to Hong Kong's changes over the years. Tomorrow is its Open Day. You may take this opportunity to learn about this building's history of more than a century, see its architectural features, and appreciate its well-known azaleas. Also being showcased this year is the oncidium, commonly known as the "dancing lady", which is the theme flower at the upcoming Hong Kong Flower Show, as well as about 20 types of local flowers in season. It is of course a great opportunity to take pictures while appreciating the beauty of these flowers.

Today, we arranged a group of junior primary students to visit Government House in advance.  My wife and I showed these children around the building. They were very excited at every scenic spot, raising many questions and trying to take pictures of me. I also showed them the vegetables and fruits grown in the farm and the environmental facilities in the garden. They were particularly interested in the homegrown vegetables and fruits, as well as the seasonal flowers. I am glad that this visit has turned into an interesting extra-curricular activity for the students. I also invited them to come here again tomorrow with their parents. It will be a great parent-child activity, too.

The Open Day of Government House has all along been very popular among locals and tourists. Many came with their family, including the old and the young.  I hope the public can have an enjoyable weekend at this year's Open Day again.

I showed the students some plants grown in Government House, and invited them to return tomorrow with their parents.   The children were eager to take pictures of me.
