A happy and harmonious family of 7 million people
As Easter is coming, I invited some 50 pupils from seven primary schools to a party at Government House. More than 30 of them belong to ethnic minorities.
As hostess and host, my wife and I played games with the children. All of them had great fun playing together, regardless of race, and filled the Ballroom with laughter.
Some of the ethnic minority children were born in Hong Kong, while some are immigrants.
I always say that all 7 million people of Hong Kong are one big family. I hope that all Hong Kong people, just like these lovely children, will call Hong Kong home and treat each other as family without regard to origin, race and religion.
I must thank the teachers of the participating schools and all other helpers for making this event a great success.
Since I took office, Government House has hosted a number of community sharing activities, including a Chinese New Year party for the elderly, a Christmas tree lighting ceremony for children and a fund-raising dinner held by the Community Chest. I will continue to make good use of Government House for the enjoyment of the public.
Happy Easter to you all!
