Meeting with Hong Kong Housing Society's New Executive Committee
Housing is a major livelihood issue in Hong Kong and is therefore a major focus of my Administration.
Over the years, the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) has made remarkable contributions to serving the housing needs of the community. In an effort to cater for the needs of some families who cannot afford private flats, the Society has built 988 units at Tsing Luk Street, Tsing Yi, to be put on sale in the market next month.
A couple of days ago at my office, the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung and I, met with the new HKHS Executive Committee appointed last month. At the meeting we exchanged views on housing issues in Hong Kong and the possible ways to address future challenges.
I am grateful to the HKHS for its great efforts and look forward to further co-operation between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Society.
